Could You Be A 9-1-1 Dispatcher?

 

Answer the following questions Yes or No:

 

Do you possess a high school diploma or GED?

 

Do you have reliable transportation to get to and from work each day?

 

Have you carried a good attendance record with previous employment?

 

Do you present yourself with professional conduct?   Do you have a clean criminal/drug history?

 

Do you have good to excellent keyboarding skills?

 

Are you willing to work any shift, including rotating shifts, nights, weekends and holidays?

 

Are you flexible with schedule changes?

 

911 employees are essential (this means we work through all kinds of weather conditions - blizzards, tornados, etc.). Are you able to report to work on short notice?

 

Are you able to multi-task or do more than one thing at a time?

 

Can you work fast and make decisions when needed?

 

Do you enjoy working in a fast paced environment?  Would you like working with people in crisis?

 

Do you possess effective communication skills?

 

Are you able to read a map?  Do you enjoy challenges?

If you answered No to any of these questions, you should not apply for a 911 Dispatch position.  You cannot be considered for a job as a 911 Dispatcher unless you are willing to perform/accept ALL of the above items.
